WWYD: Drinking out of a straw

posted 6th Oct
Okay so I have been testing the sippy cup. He has been doing good with it but today when I gave him a sip of my tea (i know bad idea =/) he sucked it out the straw!!!!

Should I get him a cup with the silicone straw or stick to sippies for awhile?

He still wakes up about 3 times a night for a bottles, I gave him the sippy cup for the 1st time last night and he took it. Im not sure if he can hold a cup with a straw in it up to drink =/. i know thats possible with a sippy unless their is a straw cup like a sippy that I dont know about lol
Also he is 8 months will be 9 months on the 18th

EDIT: So I dont cause confusion I normally give him the sippy cup once a day but I decided to try it out at night. Last night wasnt his first time with a sippy it was just his first night. Make sense?

Straws are kinda hard to wash.. especially after they bite on them after awhile.

He normally only bites his bottle nipples cause they are latex but he doesnt bite the silicone ones.

They have these types:

It's a cup with a lid and the straw comes out of the top. You can also roll the top over the straw and seal it up if you need to take it with you or whatever. These are great. DS loved these.

I googled "straw sippy cups" and LOTS of options come up. I got mine from Walmart!

Those are cute. If he is laying down sucking on it will it still come thru or does he have to sit up to drink?

There are disadvantages to the sippy cups with straws. One being that most babies will get frustrated because they will want to tilt them like a regular ol bottle or cup and won't use them and two, they often have flip tops, which they will want to close, because it's "fun" which then pisses them off when they can't get it back open. Then it will become a repeat thing, they close it, scream for you to open it back up only for them to close it again, repeated over and over. We have had the straw sippies for quite some time now but my son is just now able to use them without the two frustrating things I mentioned happening. However, if you buy some and they don't work out right now, you can always put them up for later.

Well, it has a straw all the way down into the cup like this:

So he would need to stay sitting up with it probably.

Someone just linked me that one and it says the bottom part stays in the liquid (im assuming its heavy enough to fall into the liquid if it tilts).
