Elliott's cord fell off but...

posted 6th Oct
it still has this gooey (sp?) stuff in it. It wasnt ready to fall off but this morning it was hanging and I put pajamas on him and tonight when my bf changed him, the cord was in his pjs. Is that normal? Do I need to call the doctor? My mom said it looks herniated.

yeah DS's did that. He has appointments with his pedi and I asked him about it and he didn't seem concerned with it. But maybe take him to the DR to ease your mind.

my son william's did the same thing and the dr. said just to watch and if it still wasn't dried up or looked bad to bring him back and she would put some more chemical on it to dry it up

Clean and dry, if it starts to bleed I usually put a band aid over it (stick the band aid to a clean towel so its not too sticky, it could irritate his little skin) be careful of tummy time while its still oozy, I would clean around it (DONT TOUCH THE YELLOW PART) with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip carefully, this will help it to dry out as well...if its sticking out when he cries the band aid will help it to not herniate as well

My daughter's belly button did that and when she went to the doctor's, the doc put stuff on it that would cauterize it. It looked very red for a few days with a grayish crust in spots, but now it is dry and beautiful.
