Should I listen to the nurse?

posted 6th Oct
So I called up the pedi clinic and spoke with my pedi's nurse yesterday...

LO's had the rhea for a week. She told me to continue doing the BRAT diet ( which I told her wasn't working, but I'm still doing it ) and also to avoid dairy products.

After I got off the phone with her, I gave LO peach yogurt. I figured she already had dairy yesterday, so I just wanted to give yogurt a short before I started not giving her dairy today.

This morning her poo was more solid. Like....a lot more thick...I think it helped beings it's the only thing different that LO's had to eat between yesterday and the day before.

Today, she's had no dairy so far...but I wanna give her more yogurt to see if it helps...should I?

The Dagonator just had this same issue and his Pedi said Yogurt was a yes along with bananas...I would of thought no but he has had no rhea since...I think he is lactose intolerant =(

Yogurt normally makes you poop and has more bacteria than regular dairy, so I wouldn't give her yogurt, but I'd try her on something mild like some chicken noodle soup and oatmeal or something solid, but mild. She may be getting better finally.

Really? It lasted about a week too? Did it start off kinda liquidy with little chunks in it?

LO's been killing bananas all week, and it didn't help much at all....but that bowl of yogurt yesterday....I'm like 95% sure it played a big role in her poo being a lot thicker this morning...

She's been having rice a lot...she won't touch soup.....she's been living on bananas and pb & honey sandwiches..made a baked potato a while ago...a lot of the solids weren't coming out solid like you'd think they would...I tried..even oatmeal didn't harden it up, which is weird cause that usually does...

Yea, you're lucky. It's what's been driving me up the wall lately. Like for a week straight, I'd wake up cleaning rhea from her bed, her, and our bed at 5am in the morning every morning....it sucks. I think it might be like a stomach bug or something...She'd wake us up yelling "Daaaaaaad, uh....a icky poot". ( Can't say poop for some weird reason, lol )

If the yogurt is helping, do it. I'm the type that rarely listens to Doctors and do what I see works best.

Good luck, hope LO feels better!

SO's big on the bloody noses himself. I'd probably freak at any sight of blood. Poo just irritates me and I get mad cause it stinks and it's everywhere...

But yea....I'd take blood over poo any day of the week, and thanks...We didn't have any problems today with poo, so I'm hoping this is finally at the end..

Same here....I just got a little worried cause it's been going on for a week, but I think I'll give her some more yogurt today and see how it turns out tomorrow.
