Frustrated *vent*

Yesterday, while playing dodgeball with my third graders, I stepped up to throw a ball and my left foot twisted and my knee went with it. I felt it go out of place and then back in. It took about three-four minutes for the pain to subside and the gym teacher felt around for problems but didn't find any. I got up, thinking it was okay, and within ten steps, I was flat on the floor again. I couldn't even make it down the hallway without my knee giving out. Fast forward to today (after a visit to the ER and xrays that show no fractures). I have a knee imobilizer and crutches. Crutches SUCK! My arms hurt so bad (and yes, I'm using them correctly). Now, I can't bend my knee or put hardly ANY pressure on it without it hurting/popping. They said if the knee imobilizer/crutches/pain meds don't work w/in a week (plus I'm supposed to see a orthopedist), they'll do an MRI to see if I tore/strained my ACL. THIS IS AWFUL! I can't help my husband with hardly anything, I can't pick up my son, I had to ride in a motorized vehicle at Target! I have a feeling this isn't going to be a 'quick fix'.

Crazy they only did X-rays! Most knee injuries are torn ligaments or cartridge. When I was 15. I had my knee do that at Cheerleading camp, and I had torn my meniscus. I have always opted not to have surgery, so I have had it pop out a couple more times, I am 28 now. I know crutches suck, hang in there! Hopefully you just "sprained" it and have no further problems

That sounds exactly like what happened to me when I tore my ACL. my knee felt wierd and would just give out. The day after I tore it, my knee was swollen and I was put in an immobilizer. But they couldn't give me and MRI unless I went through 2weeks of physical therapy to make sure I NEEDED the MRI. it was horrible. I had to go two months with a painful knee before I was finally scheduled for a surgery consultation. I hope yours feels better soon!
