I see what you are trying to do....but the two aren't comprable in my opinion.

It's not similar at all, formula isn't the worst you can give an infant... cow's milk would be (I think).

I'd judge on cows milk, but not formula.

I do, but not to her face. I would probably discuss it with my mom or something.

The other day, we went to a playdate. She has a son 2 days younger than LO and just turned 1.

She gives him cheerwine and mountain dew in her bottle, suckers since 8 months old, chocolate milk in the bottle...etc. He is also a BIG boy. It's not my kid, so I don't really care...but I couldnt imagine letting myself do that to my kid. She was trying to get me to let him have a sip of my coke...not going to happen.

i don't think formula is "junk." It doesn't compare to breast milk, but it's obviously the next best thing for children under 1 since it's the only other option that i know of.

Formula and BM is not the same as healthy and junkfood. I think formula is more like a healthy alternative. It's not like someone feeding their kids fries, candy and pop by any means. Is that what the OP is about?

No not really, I don't particularly care what other people feed their kids.

even if it's selfish reasons, she could give something worse to her infant like cow's milk. I know women who do that here... it's cheaper and easier.

Giving nothing but junk food is dangerous, as is giving nothing but cow's milk to an infant. Giving an infant formula is still giving them healthy food.

It's not the same.

but both are making a choice that is NOT in the best interest of the child out of ease for the parent.

It's dumb smurf like this that always makes me feel guilty about not being able to breastfeed. I thought this was about healthy and junk foods and then it turns to breastfeeding and formula feeding. Yes, breast is best but not everyone can do it..end of story.

with dedication, there are few that actually cannot breast feed.

I was just curious... why people think it's ok to judge one but not the other. Just a D&D.

I wouldn't judge for that. Yes, breast is best, but formula isn't the worst thing for the child. Honestly I don't know if my milk never came in or I just didn't "try" to breast feed.
