Breast milk question!

posted 6th Oct
To make a long story short - I can't breast feed. I have to take some meds that are passed through breast milk, and although this makes me sad...I'm doing the best I can with formula.

My question - How long does it generally take for your breast milk supply to dry up? I'm a little over a month pp with my first child and my breasts are still very full, heavy and tender. I'm normally a low b cup and right now I'm a D!!! I've lost almost all of my pregnancy weight, and I have a very small frame...so my breasts are awkward and quite uncomfortable. I don't stimulate them and they rarely leak. I know there are some pills and or injections that are supposed to help dry them up, but I wonder about the safety with those , not to mention my Dr. never said anything about it.

So if I was to let them "dry out" naturally, about how long will it take?

If she expresses some, won't that just make her produce more milk? I'm not sure exactly how it all works so I'm curious lol.

Thanks Ladies!

I have heard about the cabbage thing, but I really thought it was an old wives tale. I think I'm going to give it a shot

And yes, I think expressing them on a daily basis would cause me to produce more milk, but I think the girl that suggested it meant just once in a while, if I absolutely can't take it. So far though, I'm hanging in there

When ur drying up, sometimes it feels like ur nipples are going to explode lol its just enough to make the pressure calm down, then eventually u'll notice u get that engorged feeling less, and the milk will stop producing as fast...
