I would just show him all the benefits of a natural birth and show him success stories of VBACs.

I think it is sweet that he is so concerned.   Maybe you can youtube some natural births so he can see for himself

He should go w/ you to the appt. Watch "the business of being born," it's awesome. Read some books on it. Basically he should educate himself a little more. Statistically, VBACs are safer than c-sections.

I've never had a c section but it seems like it would be riskier with risk of infection ect.... what do u mean you can only have 3 kids with a c section??? Doesn't make sense to me

The beauty of Guatemala.... they tie your tubes after the third c-section.   no consent required.

I've heard that they are trying to change that, but I don't know for sure.

That would break my heart, actually. We haven't TTC'd our second yet, but he knows my intentions on wanting a VBAC. I don't know what advice to give you. Maybe try sitting him down and explaining that this is really important to you and you searched and searched for a doctor who would possibly allow a VBAC and you really want to at least TRY.

I mean, worst case scenario (not saying that it's a bad thing) but you'd end up in the OR with another c-sec.

Idk why but my hubby is the same way. He supports my decision to try for a VBAC but is terrified that there is the risk of uterine rupture. I explained all of the statistics and risks and my dr also assured him that if she sees the slightest start of a complication they will do the section. I think talking to the dr really helped my hubby..

I know this probably doesnt help your case any, but arent VBACs more dangerous? It's not a typical delivery. Correct me if I am wrong becasue I never had a c-section.
Otherwise, a vaginal birth seems much less painful to me. Makes you feel like you are taking a giant dump, but not painful.

Nope. VBACs are safer   A lot of people think otherwise though because so many doctors refuse them   well, they DO get a lot more money doing major surgery...

A c-section is a major surgery... I get VBACs can be risky but come on...

It will help if he comes to the appointment with this doctor and asks any questions he might have there. The doctor can hopefully ease his fears. He needs to educate himself because he clearly doesn't know a whole lot by the way he's talking.

By the way, more women die during c-sections than natural birth in the U.S.:

“About 36 women per 100,000 die while undergoing a Caesarean section, or C-section, compared with 9.2 deaths per 100,000 vaginal deliveries, according to a published study in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.”

This is also NOT including all of the women that die from complications resulting from their c-sections. Hell, Torri Spelling almost just died from complications even. That's not to say vaginal births are perfectly safe but yeah.

Doctors rush to do c-sections around here..... they don't let you go for more than like 30 minutes to an hour after your water breaks... lots of things. they get paid more for c-sections, like double the pay.....
