I was 5 cm but not having strong enough contractions to progress even though they were 2 minutes apart. So they broke my water at 2:10 pm and gave me a tiny bit of pitocin to keep things going. I did not have an epi or pain meds and was able to control my breathing and control the psin. I didnt feel.a bit of pain through her whole delivery. It was absolutely perfect. She was delivered at 2:46 pm after only 36 minutes of labor!

I feel so lucky. That was my second delivery. My first was only 1 hr 46 minutes from the first contraction to delivery. I walked into the hospital at 8 cm and delivered after about 45 minutes! So you can have a quick labor with your first. I almost didnt head to the hospital at first because the contractions were painless. Thankfully hubby talked me into it!

don't worry, it doesn't suck for the whole 24 hours, just the last few hours. I watched Food network all morning, had a shower, got DD ready for school, had a nap. Then i woke up with no contractions   lol

I did with my first, but it only numbed my left side and my legs. I didn't like it. It numbed me enough that the transition wasn't too bad, I was more aware of the crowning feeling. But this time i went epi free. The urge to push was so strong I didn't even care about the crowning. It was pretty intense to say the least but I had control of my body which, in hindsight is MUCH better. My body was spontaniosly bearing down to push and I was able to stop when they instructed me to. I had no tears or stretch cuts. My first labor I tore and had an episiotomy and the recovery was awful. I'm like 90% it wouldn't have gone down like that had I had more control of my pelvic floor and such, you know? Like after DD was born, going pee was really painful- you have to squirt tons of water on your stitches as you pee. But this time I didn't even need to do that. I was completely fine. I gave the squirt bottles to my daughter and she plays with them while she's in the tub haha.

haha that's cute about your daughter . sounds like your natural labor experience was a whole lot better!! i'm pretty determined to get through my labor without the epidural and i plan on sticking to that.

Yeah, at the time I'm pretty sure I looked scary. Like i was rocking on my hands and needs sort of singing through my contractions... there were points I almost bit my MIL. There were points where i would become aware of myself and wondered if i looked like a zombie hahaha. You get into a zone hahah. DH was like "you were a different person" I was like "um yeah a person who was trying to squeeze a watermelon out of her ass, obviously!!" It was totally different. Hard, but worth it. I will for sure go epi-free for my next baby.

If you are really having trouble and want to go epi free, they might offer you fentanyl. It would "take the edge off" but it doesn't numb you out.

Either way you will do great! Just remember we are built for this kind of thing. If it were the man's job to have the babies the human race would have never survived. Women are way stronger lol
