I think the most we've ever paid for a pet was 300$...but it was a pure bred pekingese. Other than that it's usually 20$ if that...usually we get free puppies and kittens that others are getting rid of that my dad stumbles upon lol

In the arrangement I had with the owner of the female, she was going to give me $500 to borrow my dog over the weekend. Then closer to the day, she didn't have the $$$ so she said once the pups are born, I could have a pup and sell it for $500 (or however much I choose)...once she was born, I couldn't part with her. But ya, people ask a ridiculous amount for purebreeds. I was lucky when I found my little guy for $350.

good luck at the shelter...you might get lucky. Just be careful. The dog that we got, his papers said that he'd be a small breed and ended up being a medium size...too big to be a lap dog. My parents got their miniature poodle off craigslist for $250...I guess it just depends on how lucky you get as to what you find lol.
