It's not your fault. My son is on the Autism spectrum. We haven't had him tested bc it's not extreme, it's very mild. He did early intervention for a while and I didn't really see a change in him. After the Early Intervention was over, which was @ 3 yrrs. of age, they referred us to a special learning school for kids w/ all types of learning disablilities. They evaluated him and said that he qualified for speech therapy and therapy for his fine motor skills, and we do this once a week.
The reason we started all of this is I noticed he was acting different at the age of 1. He started rocking a lot, lining his toys up and having a complete meltdown if they got out of place,and the main one was social skills, only towards kids, he will not interact w/ them at all, he will scream and cry and just shake being near kids, he's getting better but not 100%.
Sorry for rambling, but yes, it sounds like your LO definitely has Autism.
