Mini pill and sex...

I don't think this fits in with pregnancy so I am posting here...

So I started the mini pill at my 6 week PP appointment. DH and I had unprotected (well aside from BC) on the last day of the first pack. I missed one pill in that first pack due to circumstances out of my control but that was the weekend I had started the pills. Basically I am paranoid about getting pregnant again so soon since this is my first time taking the mini-pill. Before my oldest I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and did not get pregnant no matter how many times I missed pills or didn't take them on time. I know that the mini pill is a lot more time sensitive though.

Then since we had sex (was week ago now), I have been cramping like lovely AF is coming but no sign yet, and this morning woke up nauseous.... So needless to say I am paranoid despite being on birth control and still breastfeeding the baby. I did have a period though right after I started the pills. I am going to test in another week if no AF but Just need to set my mind at ease I guess, or make me more paranoid XD

So what do you ladies think? Obviously there is a chance at pregnancy every time you have sex but with this time around?

AF started 09/04 (missed the pill on 09/03)
AF ended 09/08
Sex 09/27

I know AF can come at any time but going off my regular cycle from before I had my oldest (last time was in 2010) I should start 10/09 but the mini-pill booklet said I may be irregular which doesn't ease my mind at all. We cannot afford another baby right now, let alone I could not handle one emotionally right now.

I got pregnant on the mini pull while breastfeeding

I was on the mini pill, taking it on time and everything. Yeah, I have a daughter now, pill fail lol

I had no AF really with the mini pill and BF'ing.
I think I had maybe 3 spotting episodes in 9 months of taking the pill.
But I would cramp often.

My guess is just the pill and what not. Only way to know for sure is wait about one more week and test. GL

Oye you ladies aren't helping! haha! Guess I am doomed to wait. Hubby wants lots of kids and close together but I don't think I can stand another pregnancy right now. I think I am going to go out and get condoms to use along with the pill lol and just hope I don't have another one on the way!

Are you exclusively breastfeeding? If so, the chances of you getting pregnant in the first 6 months if you haven't had a period are very, very slim (if your baby isn't going more then 4 hours through the day or 6 hours at night between nursing sessions). http://kellymom.com/bf/normal/fertility/

I also cramped a lot while I was on the mini-pill, I thought my period was going to start so many times, I even wore a pad a few times, I was so sure it was going to start.

I was also nauseated on the pill. And dizzy and very angry, so I stopped taking it after about 4 months. I still didn't get my period for more then a year later (I continued to breastfeed).

I start my period once my kids sleep all night and for this one was at 2 months. My oldest at 3 months. So I cannot exactly rely on breastfeeding as birth control. I am still breastfeeding on demand but when a kid goes 8 hours or so at night without nursing... haha!

As for being on the pill it has actually helped me a lot because I was having so many issues with the baby before I started, and that my doctor wanted to start me on birth control before ruling PPD as the cause, and had me go in two weeks after I started BC. Today is the first day I have felt sick from it though and cramping only started after we had sex. I didn't even cramp with AF the beginning of September.

I'm not sure if all the mini pills are the same, but my pack says that if I've been taking them consecutively for one week after a missed pill, I should be covered. If yours is the same, it sounds like you'd be fine.

I never get my period when I'm BFing and on the mini pill, though.

I think mine says a week but my doctor said wait till I start the second pack. I have never been on it before though so I don't know how well it works with my body. I know the combo pill is very effective with me and haven't tried other forms because I don't trust them.

Well, the mini pill has always worked for me (and I'm not particularly good about taking it at the same time every day). I am very fertile without birth control (always got pregnant the first month going off BC or by a single broken condom )

Thanks. I am hoping I am not, and surprisingly so is DH when we talked today while he was at work. Each time I have gotten pregnant it was the first shot when we tried. Whether I just stopped birth control (with my first) or just decided we wanted to try (for our second). I am just hoping that I am being paranoid for no reason!

If anyone is still following... Haven't taken a test yet but I have a metallic taste in my mouth like I did when I first got pregnant with my now 3 month old, and a lot more discharge along with cramping. So yes I am worried. Gotta get to the store to get a test though and just hope all this is from the pills!
