Spank another persons kid? Really?

I agree with this. Hitting a child because he's hurting others is also ridiculous.

See, she will be sitting right there watching him do it. And in the instance of the kittens she's like "oh he's such a big help" and I'm like "uhhh" I tell him no, stop, and she says "he's fine". The kid does no wrong in her eyes. He hit DD in the face with a ball once and I thought he gave her a black eye... man she's so lucky he didn't because the next time I saw the kid I probably would have punched him in the face to be honest (well at least wanted to reealllly bad)

I wouldn't be mad if my LO was told no or to stop messing up your property as long as not hitting happened. Also I should have been more aware of how my child was acting if I didn't want anyone to correct him. Its your house your animals and your child being hurt by him, you right to voice how you want them to be treated. I would tell your cousin if she doesn't like it to control him herself or don't come over.

Hitting a kid because he's hurting an animal... makes total sense

I would never smack him, I would never even hit my own.
The most I would do physically is take the kitten from him.

Right? "I'm just going to do to you the exact thing I'm telling you not to do." Genius.

Three is a VERY smurffy age. I totally get that feeling, especially if the kid isn't yours. lol

Yeah, I wouldn't even try -- I just noticed you're in Ontario... That's against the law, anyways.

I spank my dd and have spanked my nephew when he threw my sugar glider into the wall when he wasn't even supposed to be in their room. My sister is just glad I didn't send her the vet bill because my glider ended up with two broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

I don't take animal abusing little monsters in my house.

I really would take him away from the situation, and "talk" to him. You need to be quiet, and stern... If he doesn't get it at home, it's usually enough to scare them straight while in your house. lol

I would step in and correct the behavior. If mom doesn't get the point, then she's not welcome to bring the child back.

I lost a friend because I this---her son broke my sons toys ALL the time (like 5 toys in an HOUR). I corrected he behavior as best I could, but told her he needed to learn to play more gently or he couldn't play with my son's toys.

She hasn't been back.

Nah. If I got really angry to the point where I felt like I wanted to hit him, I would walk away and cool off. Though the only time I would feel like that is if he hurt DD. I love the kid don't get me wrong he can be a little sweetheart but sometimes it's so frustrating, especially when she thinks it's cute.

They aren't monsters, they're kids  . I think explaining why throwing the animal is wrong would be way more effective than spanking a kid that isn't even yours.

I don't know if he would understand me talking to him. I am pretty sure he is a little developmentally delayed. He acts more like a two year old. His vocabulary isn't very good so I don't know if he would know what I was talking about. I think if it happens again I am just going to take the kitten or whatever away from him and put it away (in another room) hopefully his mother will get the hint.
