HIV D&D

posted 5th Oct
I was listening to the radio, and it was talking about HIV. They're debating whether or not people with low level HIV should have to tell their partners. I guess at the moment, they don't have to, and people want to change that.

how do you feel about this? D&D

They should absolutely have to. And if they know they have HIV, and expose their partner to it dishonestly, they should be charged with assault and/or attempted murder

yes, any type of STD, no matter how "minor" should have to be made known.

I'd be pissed if I was with someone who had HIV or any STD for that matter and didn't tell me.
Everyone should practice safe sex, but condoms aren't 100% effective at preventing the spread of STDs.

No matter what level it's at you should still disclose it to your partner that you have it !

I think anyone who has anything like that should have to tell the people they're sleeping with. I mean yeah, use protection, of course, but even then, people have a right to know what they're getting themselves into.

Even if the chances of the partner contracting anything you (in general, of course) have are SUPER slim, there's still a chance. With or without protection.

So yes, I agree that people should have to tell.

They very much should have to inform their partners about ANY STDs, no matter how minor. Hiding a sexual disease, especially something such as HIV, should be a criminal offense, IMO. You should be responsible for keeping yourself safe, sure, but if someone is purposefully hiding their sexual disease, that should be criminal IMO.

Is that a fact? In some states it is legally required of the infected person to tell.

For example, in Arkansas, it's a class A felony.

I agree. If they know about it, they should have to tell you, by law.

Yes I believe they should have to disclose any STD. Their partners have the right to know what they are getting into.

Yes anyone with HIV, a STD or STI should be required to tell their partner.

A case I read in Texas was of a woman who did not disclose to her boyfriend prior to having sex that she was HIV positive. She told him after and told him "it was ok because it's not that bad." He flipped and stabbed her to death and told police the reason he did it was because "she killed me so I killed her." I'm not saying what he did was right, but many cases where partners don't disclose their status end tragically.

Quoting Kayla [ ]♥:" I am not in the US."

I thought Canada supreme court decided that a person infected with HIV has to tell their partner of their disease, because even with a condom on, if transmitted it is considered a crime. I'm originally from Vancouver, I thought it's mandatory to tell. I think the responsible thing to do would be to inform a potential sexual partner of any STD/STI.
