Meningitis Update
posted 5th Oct
I posted about this the other day. My sister informed me this morning that the number of cases in our state has gone up to 35. It is also my understanding that 5 states are having a meningitis outbreak. Yes, some are from a treatment given at Outpatient centers. Others are bacterial. The bacterial ones are contagious. (My uncle died at age 4 from meningitis). For those mommies who vaccinate, if your little one is behind on shots...make sure you get them up to date!
When my uncle died, they thought he had the flu. Then his neck got stuff. He died in about 24 hours. Not something to take lightly, in my opinion.

I thought they were all bacterial meningitis (not contagious) related to steroid shots? From what I read the bacterial strain isn't contagious?

The fungal meningitis came from the treatment done at the outpatient centers. It is not contagious.
Bacterial meningitis is contagious. It is unrelated to the fungal meningitis.

A couple days ago, a boy that lives an hour from me (where I used to live) died from bacterial meningitis. He was 9. It was said they dont think anyone is at risk because he is dead now. There were a few more bacterial ones.
