anxiety sufferers-pain relief in labour??

posted 5th Oct
i suffer with generalised anxiety and have done for the past year, i am due to be induced in 4days and was looking for some advice.
I was wondering about what pain relief other people with anxiety used??
I stopped drinking alcohol way before i was pregnant as i didnt like the 'out of control feeling' it gave me and it made me have panic attacks. Im wondering if peoples anxiety was worsened with the drowsyness of pain relief?

Pain relief during labor? Or before...
I was induced and I got an epidural...that relaxed me all over.
As for before labor...I sorta just suffered with it

They gave me stadol before I got my epi. The stadol literally made me feel high as hell and took the edge off for a while. I thought I would have an issue with it but I was fine.

I don't have anything to contribute but I want to keep an eye on this because I am concerned as well. I have a lot of anxiety, I can't handle any kind of recreational mood altering substance and I totally freak out if I'm numb so I'm kind of in a damned-if-you-do place. Interested in what other mamas with anxiety have to say about their birth experiences (:

my son was born safely on wednesday evening :-)
i had entinox (gas and air) which made me feel great, not the slightest bit anxious which was the thing i was worried about. i also had an epidural which gave me a numb feeling afterwards but again no anxiousness :-)
