I cloth diaper. Advantages are my kid doesn't get rashes very often, I don't have to spend money on diapers if I don't want to, my kid has the coolest diapers on the block (ok, that's a lie since 2 of my neighbors also cloth   ) and I don't have to worry about running out of diapers at 2 am. I also would have to up my garbage fee every month if I did disposables. My kid also doesn't wake up covered in that gel smurf. Also, with cloth poo blow outs are pretty much non existent. For me there really aren't any disadvantages, I guess for some people they would be you have to wash them and you can't use just any detergent or rash creams. They aren't a bother for me though. As far as brands go, it depends on the system.

Depends on how often you'd want to wash. I hear 30 is good if you wash every other day, so 15 if you wash them every day.

That will become you   Really though, 30 is a nice number. I go through roughly 16-20 every two days for my 2 year old, but he thinks he should poop every time a clean diaper is on his ass

I'm still waiting on my baby girl but I'm going to use cloth. I'm using econobum from Walmart because they are very cheap. You can get enough to keep them diapered until potty training for around $100. I've talked to some family memebers who used them and loved them. They aren't the cutesy kind... they are pretty plain, but they work. I did buy a few patterned diaper covers and a couple made for night time.
I also bought 2 bummis newborn packs because I think the econobums start fitting at 8lbs.
I don't have any experience to share with you since I haven't used them, but I feel pretty good about the choice to use cloth.
We have gotten some disposable for gifts and we still plan to use them if we have to travel or be gone from home for a while...

So here is what I bought with links if you want to look:
2 kits- http://www.walmart.com/ip/Econobum-One-Size-Cloth-Diaper-Kit/16608587?findingMethod=rr
2 kits- http://www.clothdiapersinc.com/proddetail.php?prod=BMS-NBPK

And I bout a few of these because they are on sell right now- http://www.clothdiapersinc.com/proddetail.php?prod=SNW-001

You can also use cloth wipes. I made some really cheap ones by getting some soft flannel material from walmart and cutting them up instead of paying a ton for fancy ones online.

I use washcloths for wipes. I used to use disposables, and they became so much of a hassle. You have to separate them, so filling your trash can with poopy wipes gets pretty old after awhile.

my partner acted weird about it too, he was like, "so they smurf in there & you reuse them" um yes, after putting them in the wash... lmao... I just ignored it & he got over it.
