I wanna be excited, but I know I shouldn't be just yet.

I want to be so happy and excited about being pregnant, but I know I shouldn't get to happy about it just yet considering I may be going through an Ectopic Pregnancy. Its so hard! I was on the pill for almost 5 years and then the third month being off the pill and a trip to the ER, they tell me i'm pregnant , but the pains and symptoms i'm having could be a sign of an Ectopic Pregnancy or just symptoms of the ovarian cyst they also found, or also just plain signs of being pregnant and my body changing. I just wish I would have got a more simple answer on what the problem is, so I could be happy about being pregnant. They told me i'm only around 2 weeks along give or take a day or two, so I know i'm not that far along, but gosh darn I wanna be happy about this and yet I cant let myself !! Every time I have been pregnant I have had problems which ended in a m/c. This is my 5th time being pregnant and I only have 1 child. I just want good news and I want this pain to go away, and I want to go on to have a normal pregnancy and carry this baby full term, but I am so doubtful and worried, and its driving me crazy to not be able to get happy and excited about this!

sorry for the long vent, I am just having so many mixed emotions and concerns.

2 wks is the day of conception... So... Maybe you're 3-4 wks, rather. Are they going to do an U/S later on? Have you had bleeding

See this is actually what i'm confused about also, My last period was Sept, 18th.
They told me at the ER last night that my hcg levels are 2000 which is normal and puts me at around 2 weeks or so along, but they said its a definite pregnancy which them hcg levels. They did an internal and external u/s and found that i also have an ovarian cyst. They tried to find the fetus but said at only about 2 weeks along, they probably wouldnt be able to see anything , but with the pains i was having i may have an ectopic pregnancy. they were able to see my ovaries of course on the u/s and said usually even being this early they may be able to see if it is in fact an ectopic, but they didnt see anything.
but another mama on here told me levels of 2000 is way to high to only be 2 weeks or so, and that it should be a good sign, but then another mama said i am probably further along if my hcg levels were 2000, but dont ya think if i was further along they would of definitly been able to see something? Im so confused on everything. All i know for sure is i am in fact pregnant but thats it.

HCG levels can range between a lot of different numbers and are different for every woman and pregnancy. It doesn't necessarily mean you are further. But also a lot of times they can't even see the baby until 7 or 8 weeks or so. That would be really confusing though.

Thats what i thought as well, that it cant be seen till 6 weeks or so.
but they want me to go for blood work saturday morning and call saturday afternoon to get the results, then they scheduled me for another u/s on Wednesday. Its so hard and confuseing to not know whats going on. As long as my levels are going up the way they should, they said then we will go from there on what to do next with the problems im having

oh and im sorry i didnt answer this, but yes, i have had some light pink spotting. well, i didnt until after i got home this morning from the ER, i had 2 internal ultra sounds done, 1 exam and they later did a pap test. so im wondering if the light spotting is from all the stuff i had going on.

Just try not to stress in the meantime. I know that hard but stay positive   Hopefully those levels go up!

Pretty helpful site, according to that you'd be 5 wks pregnant, though hCG levels do vary greatly. They must be referring to the actual age of the embryo, because you're 2 wks pregnant the day you conceive, like I said above. That's weird, most doctors don't tell you like that, they tell you how far you are based off your LMP. They can see something in an U/S most of the time around 5 wks. I went in at 5 wks 3d & they were able to determine my pregnancy was not ectopic (I had a lot of bad cramping initially).

The light spotting could be from that. I think it's good you haven't bled otherwise   good luck!

My doc told me that you usually don't start to see anything on an u/s till your hcg levels hit around 5 to 6 thousand. Idk just going by what she told me. We saw sac,baby,and heartbeat at 6 weeks2days. At 5 weeks my hcgs where a little over 6,000.

That is odd my levels weren't 2000 until i was about 5 weeks and so many days but like someone else said everyone is different! i had a lot of pains right before i found out and right after i even had bleeding but the baby has been perfectly fine. at 2 weeks i wouldn't think you would be having any horrible pains even if it was an etopic since it probably just implanted but i wish the best for you and i hope everything is perfectly healthy these long waits of the unknown are horrid! take care
