PCOS mama's

How did you ladies find out you had PCOS? I have a gut feeling I have it...the lack of a period all the time..PAINFUL cycts...those nasty black chin hairs that ALWAYS sprout on my chin and make me feel like the manlyist man and the weight...oh my god the weight with that stupid lower belly pooth that makes me have to buy a bigger pants size because of it...the skin tags...oh the list goes on and on. And my milk supply is so low and I am so sick of buying formula for my daughter when I know I can produce something free and its good for my baby. How do I just tell my doctor I think I have PCOS? Thank you

Just tell your doctor about your symptoms.

I was 14 and my period stopped and I was not pregnant.

You tell the doctors and they can test your blood to see if your hormone level is abnormal. After looking it up, everything made sense.

I always had horrible cramping, to the point I would think I was dying.

It also runs in my family.


If you are not TTC, they will most likely just get you on birth control and tell you to lose weight to help. I plan on getting laser hair removal in the future since it worked very well for my aunt who has it.

Will they help me with my low milk supply?

I am not sure.. my supply was fine. It was just the baby that wouldnt latch.

There are things out there to help though... mother's milk tea, fenugreek to name some.

I've read that PCOS can mess with producing milk...and I have always had a really low supply but now it's like i only pump a few drops and thats all of it..and my DD is only 4 months old. I've tried all of that stuff including the motherlove brand stuff and pumping more and I have gotten nothing but a empty bank account and sore nipples

Painful periods since I started having them, irregular periods, difficulty losing weight, chin hair.
I was diagnosed via TVU and blood tests out the wazoo.

Some women with PCOS have issues with a low milk supply and some have an over supply. When I was TTC my daughter our fertility doctor (RE) warned me about a low milk supply. I'd try Goat's Rue before anything else, that herb helps many women with PCOS where Fenugreek doesn't work in a lot of cases. I stopped getting my period when I was 11, when I turned 12 I put on a lot of weight out of nowhere. When I was 13 I started growing hair, where I shouldn't be growing hair, I also started to lose hair on my head. After asking around online somebody told me it sounds like I have PCOS. I bugged my mom about it, she finally took me to at doctor when I was 14. I saw about 5 doctors before getting diagnosed. Most of the doctoros didn't even know what PCOS was and because I didn't have ovarian cysts they wouldn't diagnose me with it although I was going on 3 years without a period. Finally I found a doctor who had a lot of experience with PCOS, he diagnosed me through blood work. Now 10 years later I have the ovarian cysts.

I was rushed into the ER one night because it felt like my appendix burst but I was told that I had a cyst and it ruptured. But they never tested me for anything even though I would tell my doctor that i have irregular periods and nasty hair and I keep losing my hair and my skin is horrible and that I just cant seem to lose the weight. So all she did was put me on BC that didnt even help. I had a miscarriage a year and a half ago and I'm surprised that I got pregnant and now I have a 4 month old. lol
