constipaton?? please help!

posted 4th Oct
My baby girl who is 5weeks old hasn't pooped since 7am this morning ....it is now 930 pm. she cried and screamed pretty much all day. I'm guessig she's constipated....I don't know what one would do about it? Or how long it will take to get better. I plan on calling her ped tomorrow morning. I guess right now I'm just looking for advice to make me feel better. I was here for 14 hours straight with no relief so I'm feeling kind of blah. I just want her to feel better her crying just makes me hurt.

A cue-tip with some vasaline on it. Just stick the very end in and around the butthole, this can help it come out if she is constipated. Just make sure not to stick it in far at all

I also had to use a very tiny sliver of soap (like from a bar of bath soap) It works like an enema almost, but it works. Use the vaseline to help the lubrication and ease of extraction. Poor baby.

My ds is really constipated too. What did you do with soap. He hasn't pooped since Tuesday & it was like a rock. I gave him prune apple juice earlier but nothing yet. Poor guy

i have 2 children.. with the baby only 5weeks old they shouldnt be constipated yet unless its the formula your feeding the baby..i would say the best thing is to just hold the babys belly against you and rub the back and just rock them in a chair..until they go and giving a baby sugar water is never good..im sure your doc will agree..and thats normal tho also she might not have to go yet.. i breastfed and when my baby was that young they would go sometimes a day with out going poo..i wouldnt worry too much yet

I wouldn't worry except for the last 5 weeks she has pooped every three hours....every day. Also she has been screaming and crying all day...which she has never done.

Try massaging her stomach and bicycling her legs. This works for my daughter when she gets constipated.

All I did was take a very small sliver of the soap, lubricated her bottom with vaseline and slid the soap in until it disappeared, no further than your finger touching the outside of the hole. squeeze baby boys cheeks together to ensure it stays.... He'll poop in a while. Hope this helps.....
