posted 4th Oct
We're taking Precious *our cat* to the vet tomorrow. She's 13 and lately she's stopped using the litter box, and where once she wanted to be left alone now she constantly want's to be petted and she isn't herself..hoping we don't get bad news...i'll be so upset
Here she is with my dad in 2009

I hope she's okay and it's something simple to treat like a UTI ):

I have had 2 cats with the issue...1 was a UTI which was easy to treat with antibiotics, the other was diabetic, also easily treated, but not super cheap....is she drinking alot of water? Is there any blood in her urine?

Good luck to her! I hope its something super easy to treat. When my kitty had a drastic change and stopped using the litter box it was just a UTI. Sometimes they just can't tell us otherwise.

When they have a uti, they associate the pain it causes them with the litterbox, so they look for somewhere more comfortable to go...mine chose SO's clean clothes (after we had a fight ;) ) and the bathtub! It was easy to see the problem in the tub, just got her the antibiotics and she was as good as new in a week!

Thats most likely her problem then, when u get the antibiotics (if thats whats wrong) i suggest setting up an extra litterbox just to give her an extra option so she doesnt continue to go on the couch. Alot of times the uti's can be stress related, and cats can get stressed over stupid little changes, so give her an extra potty spot just to be safe   13 years isnt very old for a kitty, the cat i grew up with was overweight and way lazy most of her life and lived to be 20
