Breast infections :(

posted 4th Oct
I'm SO sick of infections & I'm not even 6 weeks PP :/ Being diabetic makes it more likely to get them but I'm not even off the first antibiotics and I'm on more now too

I wanna scream every time she latches on the left side it's awful. The ER DR said to not let it get engorged but draining it, her or the pump, is excruciating. I'm scared to lose my milk, I don't want to quit nursing at all. Ugh this is just really irritating because I know it's best for her but I don't know how to make it even sort of tolerable.

Any tips for pain relief? Or tricks to drain it without it being quite so painful? And, if you went through recurring infections while breast feeding, how did you stay positive about doing it and not just quit?

Probably post & run.
TIA

Have you looked into seeing a lactation consultant? They know more about boobs than an MD.   Definitely worth a shot.

Lucily Aria's pedi is one   I really don't know of any others around here. But at the next check up I'll probably ask her if there's anything to do. Last time I was there though, all she said was what I already know-I'm much higher risk for getting them recurring

Let me call my LC for you. They call her the breast whisperer for a reason.

Just called her and waiting on a call back. She normally does all the callbacks before she leaves at 5! I'll try to help you get some relief! Stick with the breast feeding, don't give up...you can do it.

I'm on the phone with her right now...she thinks you may have a yeast infection. That can cause your breasts not to drain well.

You need to pump after each feeding, what kind of pump are you using?

Can you call her? She said she would help you...do you want her number?

Hey, just wanted to update you, with all my antibiotics things finally are clearing up. Much less pain, and I'm able to get let down in my left again (for some reason, almost all of the other day I felt it maybe once compared to several times in the right and I was still constantly feeding that side first and pumping.) so that's good. Milk seems to be doing good but for now I'm offering that side first mostly, and then I'll switch to the right. But thanks for your help

And I did have a yeast infection I'm pretty sure, at least. That's one of the things I have medicine for, the other was just a general breast tissue infection? I think they said.
