Ok so I have posted a few things about my food stamps. And have seen hundreds of posts from other people in the last 3 years. And of course there is always someone who has to come in and say something rude about the person or anyone who uses food stamps.
So I just wanted to see the opinions of people who "look down" on people getting food stamps/gov assistance.

im on food stamps and i dont plan on being on it forever. Smurf happens people who i never thought would be on welfare are because of a big job loss or whatever. people who looked down on others need to understand that not everybody abuses the government because i sure as hell do not! the people that look down act like they are perfect

I'm definitely watching this. I don't see why people have to be so hateful to people that need help. Most of the time I notice it comes from them resenting the fact that they "have" to work.

I wish I could work. =[

Meh, idc who looks down on me for it. I am just using it until I finish school and get a job where I hopefully never need it again.

I think that if a person needs it they should get it. I also think that they need to work towards getting off of it and not plan on relying on it for the rest of their life.

I don't look down on people. But the person in line today at the grocery store used like 400 dollars in food stamps and then bought 50 dollars in scratch tickets of of the lotto machine and her an her Adult kids that were with her were scratching while finishing ringing up.... Things like this piss me off because I had to use my last hundred dollars to buy my grocerys. But I don't look down on people who use them in the right way

I hope those that voted they look down never need help

i was on attatance until little foot was 10 minutes.. they help me get a job and get me on my feet.. the only thing that bothered me was when her father called me trash for get help.. (mind you he gets SSI not SSDI but SSI for being "too" crazy to work which is bullsmurf he is just to damn lazy) if your on it to help thats one thing if you find it as a glamourous lifestyle so you dont have to work thats another

I wouldn't judge someoneusing food stamps UNLESS they were capable and able to afford food and just taking advantage. And I wouldn't necessarily "judge" them, but I would definitely feel differently about that person.

I disagree with people using it when:

A. They truly don't need it (i.e. fraud)
B. They are a SAHM (or SAHD) and utilize assistance when they could be working instead. Staying home is a luxury, not a necessity.

I honestly don't care to here why you (in general) stay home. But if you can't afford to, you can't afford to. You should never depend on assistance. It should be used temporarily.

The only govt assistance I am on right now is WIC, and Medi-Cal. I have never been on Food Stamps, and neither has my Husband. Well now that I am pregnant with baby number 2, I plan on applying for stamps, because we are already living paycheck to paycheck, and even if they just give us 50$ a month that would help alot. However as soon as I start working again (I'm gonna start looking after this baby is 6 months old) I plan on going back off of them. I think it is ok as long as you dont abuse it.

I feel like there are a lot of people who abuse it, but others do not.


Im not an overly judgemental person.

If you need it to get by and support your family, then use it, if you don't need it but still take it, then I feel that is wrong.
