I'm on food stamps... or at least was. They have messed up our food stamps so we been without it for 2 months... luckily my husband just got a job not long ago. I think as long as people use it and really need it... then they need it.

I get a WIC card, food stamps and medicaid. I'm blessed and would be lost without it. I'm financially embarassed lol, I'm poor and I'm grateful for the help. My child will have a better life and will never know hunger due to the governments help; I plan on getting of it as soon as I can afford to, but I'm one of the people who actually needs it and I will never be ashamed of my financial embarassment, I will only strive to oneday not need it.

I wish you all the best, and I pray things get easier for you!!!!

I'm unemployed without unemployment or cash assistance.. I have $ saved up from when I DID work, but I'd be screwed if I had to buy food, I'd never eat lol. And insurance is a blessing, never costs me a dime, and my son can have all the best care and I don't have to worry about not wanting to take him in just cause I can't afford it.... I feel blessed, even though money is extremely tough.

My boat is that we are on food stamps and I and DS recieve medicaid while SO recieves Blue cross. He works full time overnights at walmart and goes to school until noon for his degree. We have one car, and I have my permit. Its also a standard and I don't know how to drive it and almost never get the chance to learn. I can barely get it out of park.   Right now we are living paycheck to paycheck paying our own rent ($725, plus utilities and bills) I tried to work but I had to quit because I lost my childcare and SO had to wake up 45 min early and pick me up from work and drop me off at the sitters, where I had to spend the night because SO couldn't drive me and LO home and make it to work on time because stupid ex job wouldn't give me just afternoons. Cabs would eat my part time minimum wage paycheck right up. Childcare through our social services takes weeks/months to apply and the provider to receive their pay and I had a good day or two to find a sitter. I had no luck because I had no money to pay the new sitter as I lost my old sitter while we were broke. I loved my job and the feeling of providing. I was sure we would be able to get off foodstamps so it was really disappointing.
I hate the stigma of being a SAHM and getting food stamps. I have tried every avenue to get a job atm. You must have the job before you get your child care covered and even if I did find a stable sitter who would wait for DSS to pay them, I would have to find transportation to the sitter, work and picking up my son after work; which I don't have with SO working overnights, school till noon and then sleeping in the afternoon before work.
The bright note? In may 2013 if things go as planned, SO will graduate with his degree in computer sciences and we will be off the system. We are replacing our rio with an automatic that I can drive with our tax return and then I can get my license, go to school and things will look up even more from there. I think everyone has a different story and if the majority of people concerned themselves more with bettering their lives than looking down on other peoples lives, things might look up for a lot of people.
That's just me.

If you're really that hard up for cash, I'll give you the .83 cents that they take out of your check to go to food stamps every pay period. If even that much...

I got a 95 buick, takes about 50 to fill, then my SO has a 77 chevy, about 80 also to fill, just one of the tanks lol it has 2. And with gas rising it's almost worth it to just only have one of us working so we only use the car and not both. But I am VERY grateful for the help we get, we'd starve without food stamps. And I've been lucky to not have any medical issues besides check ups. But smurf the ONLY thing they don't cover is the one thing I need (Oral surgery for my wisdom teeth.) I'll hopefully get it done once LO is done breastfeeding. My focus is school school school, number 1 priority right now. It's crazy trying to gather all the info for them, I know now to keep it all in a folder labeled DES haha
