I should've stated it in the post but they spend cash on the food and complain they don't have money for diapers or wipes.

Honestly, me too. I can understand the need for a nice outfit to go to an interview or what-have-you, but if I had to choose between a new sweater or my kids necessities I'd get the kid's stuff and then go to a consignment shop, that's just me.

I only need the internet. The stupid cable company made it to where it was cheaper to have both than just one so I didn't really have a choice. The only time my tv is even on is when the kids are watching movies. I don't need tv lol.

I called and asked them, they said since there is a similac comparable, they won't cover enfamil. I won't use similac, since it contains more sugar than any other brand of formula. All milk based they cover must be similac. Soy is enfamil though, it's retarded.

This is ALSO something I've thought about, but I don't know if ANY of this is true. Pure speculation, feel free to correct me with facts!

The way I see it, welfare doesn't put THAT big of a strain on the government. Considering how much money people spend on bills and debt, at least assistance money goes DIRECTLY back into the market.

Some gets Food Stamps.

They spend the money within the month.

The money goes directly back to the companies.

The money goes into production efforts.

This pays for jobs to get the food made/processed/shipped.

Where-as the stimulus package Obama signed for...even though they said "Don't spend it on bills and debt!" I guarantee that's what most people I know did...just another thought. Welfare cases aren't what's destroying this country. Debt is.

So I guess DH should quit med school and go back to work full time so we can get off assistance.

Eh, I need internet for school...and well, it's packaged with my cable/phone. I could remove the cable...but I'd basically be paying the same price.

Which is why food stamps are not going anywhere any time soon. Big business loves food stamps.

A lot of businesses like food stamps because they get reimbursed for the acceptance of the food stamps. One thing I did learn from the in-laws having the food stamps is they give a large amount of money in food stamps. My brother-in-law receives $500 a month for him, his 2 year old and wife. He also works full-time now so they may reduce. My sister-in-law gets about $750 in food stamps for her two kids and herself. That being said they were telling me that they don't need to use all the food stamps in that month time-frame, they actually carry over continuously to the next month and so forth.

The amount depends on their income. It is large...if you don't have a job.

We receive 888/month. 378 of that is for our nephews who are our foster children. That means we get 510 for 5 of us. That's 102/month/person, or 3.40/day per person.
