Write Ins, help/debate?

help me understand write ins. i made up my mind, i'm not voting for either Obama or Romney. i'm writing in this year. so, i tell this to my MIL and she's all "if you write in, the vote automatically goes to he current president. just vote Romney, at least we have a chance with him" wtf? a write in, is just that, right? it doesnt go to either Obama or Romney.

a write in is just as it states, although there is an electoral college that actually votes for who is going to be president supposedly off of how many individual votes for their sector there is. So technically your individual votes don't mean jack smurf.

vote for gary johnson..look him up ..from my understanding writ ins does go to current prez

Write ins basically don't count. BUT, don't forget that there is a third party candidate on ALL ballots this year.

You vote doesn't count anyway so it doesn't matter if you vote Romney, Obama or big bird

i agree. i just refuse to check either Obama or Romney this year. we are screwed either way.
