When does "overweight" mean "unhealthy"?

It's in the name. Extra weight is always unhealthy.

No one is perfect. an extra 10-15lbs isn't all that bad.

Once you get to 50lbs or so over, it's a problem.

Only when you notice it affecting your health.

Health and weight aren't comparable IMO.

Haha that video is cute! Not all fat is bad... I just meant the bad fat! If that makes any sense.. Fat is broken down into glucose and any excess the body doesn't need at that moment is stored until its needed. Same with carbohydrates.

Rofl I was just about to say umm what is wheat? Did you know Gluten free things aren't good for you because they are loaded with extra carbs...yea I didn't know that until I was researching it.

Well, they're good for you if you can't eat gluten, hahaha.

As with all things, when you try to replicate something without a key ingredients, it often ends up HIGHLY processed. Like people who eat all the "fake" meat. Most of that is total crap.

Quoting Rumpelstiltskin:" People who have never smoked a day in their lives can get lung cancer.... But people who smoke are ... [snip!] ... people who are overweight. I'm not saying that you are unhealthy because of excess fat, but you cannot be healthy either. "

The propensity to develop cancer as a result of smoking is also related to genetics. Some people have a propensity to get cancer and some do not. What about all the smokers that never develop cancer? I'm not saying smoking doesn't cause cancer. It does.

Environmental factors also cause cancers. Food causes cancer. City water supplies cause cancer. We live in a toxic environment.

The relationship between disease and fat are correlational, not causal. What if fat in some individuals is not the cause of the disease but just another "symptom" related to the disease process?

Example: High insulin levels that go undetected can lead to obesity because of the signals sent to the body that initiate hunger, even when it isn't. High insulin levels can also overwhelm a body system and lead to insulin resistance and then diabetes.

I just think we have to use common sense here. Can you keep up with your kids? Do you eat healthy, fresh, non-processed foods? Are you active most days of the week? Do you FEEL healthy? Then you probably are, now matter what your weight is.
BUT, are you always tired? do you eat processed food out of a box or drive thru? Do you feel blah? then you're most likely not healthy even if you're a healthy weight.
It seems like we want to make it more complicated than it is with all these numbers and definitions when really we just need to think about how we treat our bodies and how we feel on a daily basis

*bangs head against computer screen*

People who smoke are at greater risks of health problems even if there is no health problems in the family history than a non smoker who has no health problems in the family history.

People with excess fat who do not have have health problems in their family history are at higher risk than someone without or with less excess fat that have no health problems in their family.

Smoking is not healthy. Having excess body fat is not healthy. There is no way around it.

Sure! My kids aren't GF yet (hoping they don't end up having to be GF) but I am. I've been eating GF for about a year now.

Also needs to be factored in there is do you get adequate sleep?   I'm always tired but I'm missing out on sleep.

Sweet thank you! audrianna has always been sensitive to everything and she already avoids most of the gluten products so I'm thinking that is a sign maybe I should just axe it all.

Ouch! *hands you a bag of frozen peas for that nasty bump on your head"

I wasn't saying that smoking is good for you by any means. I was just talking about other risk factors in the cancer process.
