Depo-Provera question.

posted 4th Oct
I had my son on February 16th, I started the Depo shot on February 18th, I've been getting my shots like I am supposed to (every 12 weeks) I completely stopped my period since my second shot, I get my 4th shot here soon but recently I started spotting, the longest was 3 days.. I was wondering if it is normal? Have any of you had this happen? I asked my friend she was on it for 3 years, she said it happened to her & her doctor told her it could be from being stressed. Have any of you ever heard of that? I have been VERY stressed lately, so I can see how it'd be true but I just want to make sure nothings going wrong, & that my BC is working.

the only time i had spotting from depo was when i found out i was pregnant, but spotting is a symptom of depo so it sounds normal.

i have been on depo for almost 2 years. after my second shot my period stopped.
so i didn't have any spotting until a year later from my second shot.
it was just a bit of blood.

i think its normal.

I have heard that spotting is normal, also some women bleed constantly when they get the shot... It affects everyone differently, I was on the shot for a year and didnt have one period. I'd never take it again, I just thought it had something to do with why I always felt like smurf....

I had no period the first month, spotting the next month, nothing for three months, and then spotted again. I would never ever get Depo again, though. It's ruined my body. I'm surprised that this is your only symptom; all I ever here is depo horror stories.

I didn't have a bad thing to say about it until we had infertility scares because of it.

My doctor didn't even TELL me that it's only for women that are done having children!

I have endomitriosis, polycystic ovarian disorder, and it I lost 2-3 (2 documented) babies before I got pregnant, and I almost lost THAT one three times.

I have had a period in five months since being on depo, and now I'm terrified I'll never have children again.

My mom forced me to go on it when I was 16 because she thought I was having sex. So my last shot was right before my 18th birthday and it took forever to have a period again and even longer to get pregnant. There are also other negatives about it that my mom didn't even bother to consider. I can't believe how careless she was with this. I could have never have LO because of it.

No one told me about taking extra vitamin C or D with it either. It made my FMS 10x worse, too. I can't get out of bed, some days. It's complete hell. They need that smurf off the market IMO.

You can't even get it until you're 18 here, even with consent. =[ I'm sorry honey.

Wait! WHAT! I haven't had any problems with the shot, but did not know about the infertility or "its only for women who are done having children" no one ever told me any of that! I want 2 kids, but I wanted to be on BC through college making me like 24 when I'd TTC, I know your only allowed to be on the shot for 3 years, I tried the pills before getting pregnant with LO, I forget which two but they both made me really sick.

Everything I've read has said being on it for more than two years is dangerous.

Do you take vitamins?

I've actually heard 2 years is the max. I wouldn't be on it any longer, especially if you're planning on having another one.

No I don't take vitamins, should I? & What kind?

& Smurf, I'm about to stop this thing ASAP!
I didn't really look into it to much I feel dumb for that, I just saw that my friend was fine on it, & my mom brought it up to me..

I just Googled it & found this ;
http://womenshealth.about.com/b/2005/01/07/getting-pregnant-after-depo-provera-shots.htm

over 1,000 women from being on it for only 9mnths, to a few years, having miscarriages or not conceiving at all even 2 years after stopping..
