What you said was not especially nice. But she wanted advice. Plus she shouldn't run to the hospital at first sign of labor they want you to labor at home, hence people get sent home a lot of the time. For some labor is short and others labor is long. Maybe she wants to labor at home. Which I would want to if I was doing a hospital birth.
