progestorone?

posted 4th Oct
Ok so Im due on may 26,2013. Thats what they say so far anyways. My question is... My dr perscribed progestorone to me last week because my level was low when they drew blood. The problem is for the pills its 112 a month and for the supposetories its 3000 a month. I have no insurance as of right now. I dont even know for sure why i have to take it this time because i never ha any problems with my 2 previous pregnancies. Is it going to be ok if i wait till my insurance comes through or do i need to find a way to get it now?
Someone please help cause im worried

What were your levels at? It can change from pregnancy to pregnancy. I needed it with my first and this pregnancy my levels were fine. Its very expensive but it essentially keeps you from having a MC.

Progesterone is the hormone that essentially keeps you pregnant.

If your doctor recommends it, there is probably good reason.

Definitely find a way to get it.

I miscarried because of my progesterone levels & then had to take it through two more pregnancies.

This....Because progesterone helps to build the endometrial lining, it is important that its levels stay high in pregnancy. A thick lining is key for the healthy implantation of a fertilized egg.A drop in progesterone levels signals signals to the body to start menstruating, as the uterine lining begins to break down.

Had low levels with my first pregnancy and the doc perscribed progestorone because my body was not making the hormone on its own. This hormone basically will sustain your pregnany until your placenta (done developing at the beginning of the second trimester) can produce it on its own. My son is now 2 years old and perfect! I was taking it for my current pregnancy as well just to be safe but never had problems with my levels as far as I know (found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks, didnt have my first OB appt until 10 weeks so I was perscribed progesterone before I had bloodwork just to be safe). If your doc says you need it then its best you try and get it. I took pills both times and since they seem to be cheaper I would go with those. Some docs will even keep you on it your whole pregnancy. It depends on your body, pregnancy, and doctor. Good Luck and congrats

Progesterone is a major problem you NEED the pills, I had to take them early in this pregnancy until I reached the 2nd trimester, If you have low progesterone, you could miscarry, if not caught in time or if you dont take the pills. Trust me, you want to get them if you dont want to lose the baby.

and your insurance should reimburse you for them after it kicks in.
