35 weeks measuring 41

posted 4th Oct
So i went for my 35 week check up yesterday and they measured me and said i'm measuring 41!!?? Baby has been measuring about a week ahead since 20 weeks but MY measurments have always been fine until 33 weeks when i measured 35. But not at 35 i jumped to 41. They ordered an U/S for monday to measure baby and see if she is still measuring big too. If she is, what can i expect to hear from the drs. Do they induce early for that? keep a closer eye? is it that big of a deal i jumped so much in 2 weeks? I'm kinda worried. My last baby was normal the whole time and even going 8 days over due she was only 7lbs 6 oz.

TIA!

I should probably also add i've been on BP meds since 14 weeks as well, and i passed my GD test!

Nope. They won't induce you. They go by earliest due date on record.

She just might be a bigger baby. IMO I don't think they'll induce you unless she just gets/is too big.
Hopefully everything works out perfect. Good luck.

Hey there. With my last pregnancy i was going to a new maternity clinic and there was two different docs measuring me. At one point they said i was measuring 5 cm ahead. I was freaking out. They sent me to ultrasound as well, and told me my fluid level was too high. My anxiety went sky high, and i was so worried. I went to my ob-gyn and he measured me, i was only 2 cm ahead! and he told me that the fluid level (according to ultrasound) was just on the high end of normal. He monitored me a little closer the following weeks til my c-section and everything was fine!
If you have any questions about my experience you can pm me on facebook  But i would say if you are worried, go get a second opinion
Take care!

A big baby does NOT mean csection
A small girl can have a 10 lb baby and a large girl sometimes any push out a 5 push out a five lb one

by the way, my baby was born weighing 8lbs 3 oz. He did end up in NICU for 3 days for fluid in lungs (because of c-section) and low red blood cell count, but as far as i know that wasnt caused by the fluid levels

............ it actually CAN mean csection if your pelvic bones are abnormal =)

He said that a 8 lb baby wouldn't be able to pass through either. I wasn't telling her that SHE has abnormal bones because CLEARLY no one knows. I was simply telling her my situation bc they didn't take her early just because she was big - they took her 'early' and via csection because she would get stuck. =)

It's a cop out for doctors
How do you know your hips wouldn't spread during labor?

I didn't see it as a cop out at all.

My body wasn't changing and she was measuring 12lbs. I wasn't going to risk her getting stuck trying to come out. My mother was the same way with both my brother and I. I was 10lbs 4oz and he was 9lbs 3oz. My structure is the same as hers. and in fact she did labor with me and I did get stuck and my heart rate started dropping and they had to do an emergency c section. I would of rathered not go through labor and then have the emergency and a horrible recovery. IMO

BUT in this case I am not saying she is going to NEED a csection AS I'VE SAID because she asked is that they wont take the baby early just because she is 'big'. I was simply telling her my situation with my daughter.

Small frame has zero to do with it and birthing experience is not genetic...

how does a small frame have nothing to do with a baby not being able to fit through and getting stuck?

EDIT: at the end of the day this conversation has NOTHING to do with what the OP wanted to know. & I am going to trust my doctors opinion over yours. I've also gone to two other doctors before going back to MY doctor and both of them said that if the baby got to a certain size it would not fit through due to my abnormality. AND SINCE you are NOT in my vagina and don't know what my bones look like i TRULY feel that you have NO leg to stand on when it comes to what would have worked for me, or my doctor coping out. As everyone's body is DIFFERENT. I don't think you have a medical degree of any kind, & if you do then so be it. So I am going to say that the best decision was made by my doctor and I. I do not regret it as I would have felt WORSE if I tried laboring and she got stuck =)
