We don't have animal control where we live... it's too far in the country.

The dogs may be acting like the because they don't know you. That's what mine do to strangers. I'd talk with him & see if you & your kids can meet the dogs at his house so they can get use to you. That's what we have to do with ours.

My kids have met the pit bull once when the cop's son was playing outside with her. I always tell them that they cannot touch any animal unless we are with them, but she started growling again at them and they both got scared. She is really a sweet dog, but she seems to be pretty young and untrained. I just don't want to risk my kids around that, you know?

thats agood idea.... write up a note just saying your noticing the dogs getting out and that you just worried about the kids and other animals around.

I might do this. I thought about asking DH to go over there and to casually bring it up in convo since I'm too much of a pussy to. lol

It takes me dogs a few times to get used to people. What usually works best is if when someone new comes around the ignore the dogs & show them that they aren't bothered by them. Then the next few times they give them treats.
