posted 4th Oct
Has anyone had a cyst on the vagina in pregnancy. I found out yesterday that why ive been in so much pain as i've got one the size of a grape it really hurts to walk, sit down pretty much everything i do they given me amoxcillin antibiotics but said it wont go with them but should stop hurting.. If anyone has ever had one in pregnancy what did they do treatment wise or did they just leave it

I don't know if this helps but I've had cysts when I wasn't pregnant and my OB/GYN did nothing for treatment. 2 of them burst (which hurt and I got some pain meds for) and the rest seemed to go away on their own.

They were really bad on both ovaries and the doctor thought I had PCOS, but my hormones were fine. So in his mind I guess there was nothing to treat..

I've had something similar, my dr referred to them as abcesses or boils but i'm guessin they're the same thing? anyway i've had two on my vagina that drained on their own, one that flared up then went away without draining, and one underneath my breast :-( painful as hell but didn't take any antibiotics for it. sittin in a hot bath with salt in the water for 20 mins or so helped, as did hot compresses and painkillers. i hope it goes away soon!

keep having hot baths,i know it sucks but only way it will get better is heat and eventually it will pop but it wont go unless all the infection is on surface for it to pop and when it does omg its so much relief,i couldnt walk at all when i had mine.i know how you feel and its awful

When I was 26wks pregnant with my daughter I had a cyst / abcess come up right at the bottom of my back, my GP sent me to A&E and they drained it under a local anaesthetic (they normally do it under general anaesthetic) and had a district nurse come to the house to dressed the wound for 3wks. It came back with me when I was 39wks and they drained it again, although they did try antibiotics before that.

Hope they sort it for you soon, I was in agony with mine but had instant relief as son as it was drained the twice .

yeah if these's antibiotics dont work then im going to go back and see if they will drain it or something the doctor said if it gets worse they will need to operate but dont want that whilst im pregnant so if they could drain it think that would be better and it hurts to move and sit and baths seem to be making it bigger i wont be able wee soon

They are horrible things, but the hospital was great when had mine done. The GP sent me to A&E and it went from there, but they arranged to have a midwife in the operating room to keep an eye on the baby while they drained it, it was actually like a mini version of the operation that they did. I thought it would hurt more for having been drained and pulled aout but the relief was immediate.

I think if it gets bigger than a 50p piece then they'll have to do something about it especially if the antibiotics aren't working. The specialist I saw second time around said that antibiotics usually don't work on that type of abcess/cyst.

yeah the gp said the antibiotics wont get rid of cyst and its all ready big enough and when i sit down there is alot of pressure on it which isn't helping. Hope they do something to help me and soon!
