honey

My daughter is one on 24th oct. Ive bought her some fresh soup wich has honey in it, but heated will she be ok to have it?

I heard that it wasnt okay to give babies honey until they were two. I have no idea though. lol

I thought it was 1, not 2.
Both of my girls have had honey after they turned 1, we love honey sticks in this house (plus it's great for sore throats!!).

My mom told me that so she probably just bumped it up to 2 just to be extra safe. lol

I've heard both 1 and 2. But when DD was 11 months old, her pedi told me she was "close enough" to 1 and said it was ok to give her Zarbee's cough syrup, which is mostly honey.

Honey has been known to contain spores of the harmful bacterium Clostridium botulinum, which can cause infant botulism. In young children less than 1 year old, the digestive tract lacks the protective mechanisms to prevent the growth of the C. botulinum spores and production of the botulism toxin.

By their first birthday, however, young children can produce stomach acid and their digestive tract has become colonized by protective bacteria, making them much less susceptible to developing infant botulism.
