re: did you have a *surprise* baby?

posted 4th Oct
I ended up becoming paranoid it would happen because it happened to a friend a few weeks before I was due so I packed mostly unisex clothes in the hospital bag and a few pink accents (pink booties and cardigan) so when he was delivered I was so relieved he wouldn't be dressed in pink. I would have felt terrible!

Ours is a surprise. Only because all three ultrasounds the baby has made it impossible to tell the gender. Grr. I'm really nervous because we held off on getting stuff in hopes of learning the sex. No such luck. So now we are scrambling trying to get what we need.

What do you still need? Jungle /winnie the pooh stuff are pretty gender neutral!

i left my 3rd a surprize for delivery. I had a boy and girl already. I found out with both of them. So I had boy stuff and girl stuff when 3 came along. Everyone would have their own room so I didn't have to worry about that. So I washed up the o-3 and 3-6 month in the boy and girl stuff. I bought some cute neutral items so baby would have something new. And I knew I would want baby to come home in a gender specific outfit so I packed a diaper bag for a boy and a diaper bag for a girl for the hospital and kept them both in my car. After I delivered I had my husband bring up the appropriate one.

That was my 3rd. I am now on my 7th...and I never did the surprize thing again...cuz I didn't like it afterall! I felt more prepared and bonded with baby when I knew beforehand. I liked being able to think of the future in more certain terms, like I was able to when I knew. I liked being able to refer to baby by name....and I liked only having to pick one name...especially since DH and I have problems agreeing on names all the time! And the biggest disappointment came at delivery itself. I had envisioned the baby popping out and immediately an announcement being made "ITS A >>>" so that I would know what I had just birthed immediately. Well.....baby was born, everyone in the room could see what it was no one announced anything to me and everyone starts commenting on all the blonde hair and the chubby thighs etc.....I I wearily look up and ask "what did I have???" and someone sort of laughed and said "boy"..... well that always left me feeling badly. I did the months of sickness..the pregnancy discomfort...all the worry....the aches and pains...THE LABOR...popped him out.....and I am the last to know what I had!

So for me finding out is best!

Congrats! & that's exactly how I feel! I decided I'm going to find out..I'm just not going to tell anyone IRL   I find out on the 29th!

Everytime someone asks me how I'm feeling/whatever regarding the pregnancy..they refer to it as a 'she' & its annoying.   one of my friends even guessed how much "she" will weigh.   Like srsly?! Can everyone just stop already!?!
