circumcision?

posted 4th Oct
Did you circumcise? if so why?

I circumcised my first son and he ended up having complications up until he was two, he now looks half circumcised. This really makes me think twice about circumcising this boy. I know every baby is different.and the same problems may or may not arise again.

And if you did not circumcise what is the difference in care and keeping him clean as a newborn?

With an intact penis, you just wipe what you can see. Do not pull the foreskin back for any reason, solely wipe what you can see. A lot less complicated than caring for a circumcised penis, IMO.

I got him circ'd because his father and I believed it was the best interest for him.

There is no difference washing their penis. No pulling back the skin. Wash it like a finger.

The choice is up to you.

Personally it's about cleanliness and avoiding infection. I am aware you can clean an uncircumcised penis, but the doner prefered it and at the time I didn't know my options.

Both of my boys are circ'd and we did it because we felt it was the best decision for them after doing all the research.

I also had a family member who needed one for medical reasons later on in life and I didnt want that for my boys.

My concern is I don't think were going to have the extra money for a voluntary procedure when the baby comes. My husband just got hits hours cut and were not sure how its going to affect.everything yet so we need to saveall the money we can. I feel a little guilty not circumcising as my husband and son both are.

DS isn't cut. Just wipe what can be seen. No pulling it back at all. Nothing gets in there, so there is no risk of infection at that age. As he gets older he will learn how to keep himself clean.

No. I didn't circumsise and I never will with any future babies. It is a cosmetic procedure. If my son grows up and wants to be circd then I will do it, after HE makes the choice. It is his body. The myth of them being cleaner cut is just that, a myth. It was proven false. The man who did the study was retracting the foreskin back, breaking skin, and causing infection.

my husband preferred that we do it and I trusted his opinion seeing as he also has a penis...what ever reason YOU choose...you're his mother, you and his father make the choices for him before he's 18...I've heard pro's and cons for both so just go do some research and make your choice for yourself. good luck.

Thank you ladies, im leaning toward not doing it this time since it is cosmetic and.after watching my first son suffer.through all.that for.so long and then it being almost pointless in the end since most grew back. I just.don't want my next son to feel uncomfortable or out of place from his daddy and brother.

we have two boys and did not circ. we have never had any issues. cleaning and "up keep" is super simple. there's nothing "extra" to do. just wipe when there's poop and wash during a bath. never retract the foreskin. it's like cleaning your finger off .. same process .. just as easy.

it's not standard procedure here anyway as they don't do routine infant circumcision in Austria. Here is a very informative video with helpful information.

There is no medical or health reason for routine infant circumcision. It is a cosmetic procedure that has much more potential for harm than for "prevention".

Don't feel guilty. More and more boys are being left natural so he won't be "weird" in school and no little boy's penis will ever look like his dad's, so no weirdness there. Even the studies that show there are benefits show very little so he won't be missing out on anything. You can also look up the sexual function of the foreskin - he may thank you for leaving him intact later.

I am having a boy and am 38 weeks pregnant. My husband did not fight me on this topic because I intimidated the hell out of him with all of the research i brought into the decision. I will not stand for circumcision unless he has a health problem that makes it necessity, and that necessity is confirmed by MULTIPLE doctors, or when he's older decides he feels like cutting off part of his foreskin for cosmetic purposes. I find it cruel and horrible otherwise.
