re: circumcision?

aw, he'll just be glad he has a penis. lol My husband is "circ'd" because of a medical procedure he had when he was 4 years old. (they used the foreskin during the procedure, so in essence, he looks circ'd) but he would never let our boys get circ'd. It won't be that big of a deal later and if it's less money work and stress for you, then it's easier just not to circ.

Then don't mama. The circ rate is declining. I never got my son cut and he is perfect. Never had an infection, issue anything. I highly suggest not doing it primarily because it is pointless and is painful for the baby.
Do what you feel is best but I am pretty anti-cutting. It freaks me out and with all the research I did...I is just not something I believe in. :]

Oh and his father was circumcised but we both agreed not getting him cut was by far the best decision. Circumcision actually kills few babies yearly and can leave room for human error. It scars me.

Yep I just watched that video that was posted, I guess I'd never actually done research on it before but I can deff say now that I do not want to get him circumcised. My sil had already given me crap when i.had mentioned I didn't want to do it, not that I care just hurts a little when someone bashes on you when your just trying to do what's best for your child. next time she bashes in going to tell her to do some research then get back to me!

Both my 6 year old and my newborn are circumcised. If I have any more boys they will be too. It was an easy decision for me to make each time with their fathers. Both are circumcised and felt it was better to do as an infant. Aftercare was just Vaseline for my oldest until he healed. My newb was even easier because they did the plasti bell method there was no special care just wipe off like normal.

I reccomend researching both sides and deciding what is best for your family with his father. Either way, you'll have a happy and healthy little boy. Don't let anyone make you feel bad no matter what you decide to do. I don't think there's anything wrong with circumcising or not circumcising, it's just a personal choice you make. Good luck either way!

We did not have our son circ'd and he is now 4 and has had no problem. It is a cosmetic procedure and I believe it should be their choice later in life. Why cause your baby pain for something that is not needed?? JMO

There is a great website with tons of research called doctors opposing circumcision. It's concluding statement is what did it for me. Just in case you need more research to check out. It's backed by docs from all over who have strong cases against it.

Congrats on your decision. Just remember not to retract and to let it do its natural thing!

It's really 50/50 so your kid won't be anything "different" or "weird" in this day and age in the US.

He's born with it, so it obviously serves a purpose just like most of what you're born with. We're so fortunate to have the information we have now!

Also, I'd recommend making sure you can find a doctor who knows how to PROPERLY care for an intact boy. Here's the WHOLE network of docs. :-) There are a lot of docs who will try and push circumcision and don't like to take no for an answer, or doctors who use old information and do things that they shouldn't - like retract or scrape.

It seems like they don't cut off as much as they used too and that leads to problems. I had to have my son re-circumcised because it wasn't done right the first time.
