Money is tight.
He needs the money to get a new car.
He wouldn't ask it if he didn't need it.

He's given me money and stuff on multiple occasions without asking anything from me, but this is one of those times that he needs it.

Doesn't matter, anyways, the tires don't fit.

I'm not sure about in your area, but here they have used tires that are for sale at a little tire store.. I'm not sure if it's habitat for humanity or not, they are right next door to each other and they are super cheap. I know it's not ideal, but if a new used tire has more tread than your current tire, maybe that's the route to go? Especially if you can't afford tires.
