Anyone have a Corgi?
posted 3rd Oct
My son REALLY wants a small dog. We have two labs and he loves them, but he's always really liked smaller dogs. My mom has two bulldogs and they're pretty much his best friends. I'd like to get him a small dog, but not so small it's fragile. I've been reading up on breeds. I've had dachshunds growing up, bulldogs, labs and golden retrievers that's about it.
So... are Corgi's a good breed around children? We'd get a puppy so the puppy could grow up around my kids and I'd obviously research the dog more if this is a breed I decide on.

They just need...LOTS of attention, always

Corgi's are known to nip at heels when they are excited. They are small "herders" and like to herd anything that runs

I had a Sheltie.. he was PERFECT with the little kids.. My sons were 4 months & 19 months old when we got him and they grew up together... the boys would pull his hair, ears, etc and he would just walk away. He was so sweet and not big. Probably around 20-25lbs at 3yrs old. Only thing is they need grooming every week, if not more, and lots of attention. xo

Corgis have bad back problems and hip dysplasia.
I'd look at a miniature poodle they're GREAT with kids and super trainable. Or a poodle mix.
