Same here. They aren't for me but some are good and provide an affordable way for young families to own their own place.

Absolutely not. I love loud music, big pools, swing sets and running room for my kids and not being told how to take care of my property.

i love ours, for the same reasons you listed.
i think the HOA is great, as it ensures the whole neighborhood looks nice.
the resale values are identical to those of homes, meaning they don't lose value simply for being a townhome.
in my neighborhood you can buy a small townhome for about 400k. it costs 600-700k to buy a single family home of the same square footage, in our same neighborhood, and they don't get the perks of the HOA.

I love mine actually...its in an awesome neighborhood and has tons of upgrades
