Antibiotics while nursing?

I'm supposed to be taking amoxicillin (antibiotic) for bladder infection and I am breastfeeding my 2 month old baby. Is this drug safe for my baby? Did any of you take antibiotics while BFing?
My family doctor said it is safe but he is clueless about many things in life 

I hate this drug by the way, it's making me incredibly thirsty and gives me headache.

Antibiotics are usually fine even when breastfeeding but if they make you feel bad then you may have a sensitivity/mild allergy to them. Talk to your doc about getting your prescription changed.

I don't know about that specific medication.

But there are definitely bf safe antibiotics. Moms with mastitis are prescribed antibiotics and continue bfing....

You need to be watchful for thrush though, as antibiotic use can cause it.

I had to take Keflex for a bladder infection. I was told that antibiotics can cause sensitivity for the baby as well and to watch out for rash, diarrhea etc. My pediatrician said Keflex was fine and they prescribe it to babies. Call your pediatrician and ask about it if you are worried. I hope you feel better! UTIs suck!
