IF I can't make a law making it illegal to pierce your baby's ears, don't tell me what I can and cannot do to my son's penis when he is born.

My nearly 8 year old is trimmed. I'm currently 7 1/2 weeks pregnant. If I have another boy, he too will be trimmed. I haven't seen any "proof" not to. it's the right choice for MY family! If it isn't for yours than don't do it.

I disagree. If the woman's uterus is protected by law and the fetus has no rights to it then I think the same type of law should protect male's and their sex parts. The mother should have no "right" to her son's penis. There is no question that the penis does not belong to her and it should not be her "choice" if it's chopped or not. Women are being giving far to many choices, I'm all for them having their own uterus removed if they wish because it belongs to them but removing other people's bodies and body parts.. no, just no. He was born perfect, just the way he was suppose to be.. no one should have the right to chop off perfectly good/healthy foreskin.

If the boy grows up and chooses for himself to have it cut then so be it but it should be left up to him. There is usually no need to cut a baby boy's penis so there should even be a choice there, in my opinion.

I completely disagree. there have been findings where it can prevent cancer and other illnesses, for some they find it cleaner. I don't think of it as cosmetic. IMO its a necessity, at least for my boys.

Religious reasons ARE valid reasons, IMO.

I don't necessarily see it as a necessity, but definitely not cosmetic. It decreases the risk of STD transmission, UTIs, and other infections. In a world where STDs run rampant, I think there are advantages to getting the kid cut.

I don't think it should be a law that they need to remain intact... but I don't think it's something people should do...   does that make sense?

I just don't understand the point of it unless it's medically necessary, and it is rarely medically necessary.

But in most countries outside of the USA people don't circ'. And just because you are intact doesn't mean you cannot get an STD... it only lowers the risk like 3%! That's what condoms are for.

Where do we draw the line though? Our childrens food? How their clothed during certain temps. Things like this set a precedent.

We have to do what is best for our children's health. In cases of medical necessity circumcision should be preformed. You have to feed and cloth your kids. But cosmetic surgeries that can have complications shouldn't be preformed on infants, that is where a man can say "it's my body, I'll cut it off if I want to."

Feeding and cutting off a bit of his penis are such different things, I don't understand how they can even be compared...

Its sets a precedent though, that other people know whats best for your family instead of you.

OR instead of chopping off part of his penis you could teach him the PROPER way of avoiding STIs... condoms!! Here in Canada, doctors are actually starting to refuse to perform them because they are not needed.

I already said I don't believe it should be a law that you must or must not circ' your kid. There are religious reasons to circ' as well as medical reasons.

But I don't think it's something people should do...

Like, I don't think you should pierce your daughter's ears, if you ask me I'll give you my opinion, but I don't think it should be illegal to do so. KWIM?
