Sacral dimple

Kellan was diagnosed with this today after seeing his regular pedi for his 4 month well baby. Its been present since birth there has even been some discharge there that I've noticed during diaper changes. I figured it was just a regular dimple but I've always been curious about it. She wanted to have an ultrasound done right away since it could be an indicator of a twisted spine, one that hasnt fully closed or spina bifida occult(sp?) We're going tomorrow for an ultrasound already for his abdomen, he has a potential hernia and they're able to keep him longer to get an ultrasound of his spine as well.

Were any of your children diagnosed with this? Is there anything I can read to prepare or should I just wait for the results which will be in Monday at that latest? Anything I should look for in the meantime? I read swelling and discharge are normal...how much of either is "normal?

Kaye and Maisy both have one..

pretty much if there is a dimple above the butt, its a sacral... Kayes is super deep, so she needed the ultrasound.. Maisys is pretty superficial, so she didnt need one... but i noticed kaye had more discharge as a wee one, not so much as she grew..

i hope its just deep, but closed.. its still pretty scarey.

my advice, stop reading about it. it will do you no good to worry, and thats all its going to do, make you worry.

chances are so high that all it is is a weird dimple.
