re: Sex offenders and halloween *D&D*

In high school I knew a girl who dated a 24 year old, she was 16 and told him she was 22! I just remember her crying because her parents wanted to press charges and her boyfriend was pissed (obviously). I moved shortly after that though and don't know what happened.

How horrible it must be to ruin someone else's life because you wanted to be a "grown up".

It's awful. His entire life is ruined because of this. Any other time, if he had just lost his job, then oh well. He could just pick up a new one. He would probably be in a different job than the one he lost in the first place and not at risk of losing that one. But that's how it is, so he's dealing with it. I just had to look up housing assistance numbers for him last night. He was so humiliated.

I look back at all the places I've had sex and all I can do is shake my head. So dumb when I was younger.

Ya it is. If you get a chance Google Canadian CAS and how they are run. Americans think CPS is bad I'm not sure about the states but here they get paid by filling a quota of how many children they take and place into the system.

parents should be with their children anyway... no child should go into ANYONE'S house reguardless of the sex offender status.

the sign stating "no treats" is ridiculous, that is branding. i dont like that.

i do think they shouldnt pass out candy though, there are certain liberties you loss when you mistreat / rape a person of any age, and for these people, yeah i agree watching little kids prance about and giving them treats should be one of them.

A little off the topic but I would like some opinions too. What if you have a family member who offended at a young age, let's say 17 and was tried as an adult. The "victim" later recanted and your family member was still found guilty. Ok now they have to register and are on the list. They l do all the court mandated stuff and seek counseling. Now 16 years later they are married, have children, have not re-offended. Do you think they deserve to have a second chance and their record wiped clean?

Yes, I do. I have a family member in a very similar situation and it is awful to see how he has been royally screwed because of it.

As for the OP, I agree with most of the other posts. And I think the sign thing is just ridiculous. I can see that causing a lot of problems.

My mother in law remarried after she had my boyfriend and the new husband dated an under aged girl, got caught, went to prison for 4 years, married her and mow has two children with her. He is on the sex offender list because of a teenage relationship and icam have kids and smurf mnow without the state being all in his ass. His problem was that the mother of the girl was totally cool with the situatiom but as soon as he turned 19 she called the cops and turned him in. Thought that was pretty stupid but he got nailed for it

This is why I wish that the age of consent would be lowered.

A 15 and 16 year old knows full well what they are doing. Statuatory rape should be a thing of the past. Rape should be just rape. When someone is forced to have sex against thier will

Why can't these people just be allowed to live their lives. If they want to decorate their houses and hand out candy... let them. As parents it is our responsibility to keep our children safe. If you are that worried about your kids being around "sex offenders" then look on the registry and avoid trick or treating at those houses. It is absolutely absurd to not allow people that have served their time to participate in the festivities.

when you commit felonies you loose certain rights. for instance convicted felons loose the right to vote in our elections. if you're so worried about decoration your house and handing out candy, you might want to think about that before you rape a kid.

Not all sex offenders rape kids or are a threat to society.
