My friend got a sex offender charge for streaking

I agree with you OP, but then who would sit down and say "Ok these sex offenders over here can't pass out candy, but these ones over here can"?

Why do you go on the list if you pee on the side of the road? I don't quite get what that has to do with being a sex offender

If they want a kid on Halloween, they aren't going to be stupid enough to snatch one that came to their door. Too many witnesses. Most trick or treaters travel in groups, or with their parents. Not easy targets.

If they want one, they'll get one another way.

Keeping children safe is about keeping them in groups, keeping them in well-lit areas, teaching them HOW to be safe, and monitoring them.

I think they should enforce it for those who did prey/abuse children.
They shouldn't lump all sex offenders together, b/c it really isn't right.

Wow. That's crazy.

I think the subcategories is a good idea.. the list needs to be more defined. Awareness of the specific crimes is more helpful to parents and the offenders. if you have NO offenses concerning children, that should be known to the public.

My husband used to work with a guy that unknowingly slept with an underage girl when he was a kid.

He is a grown man and still carries the "Sex Offender" label for that  

although child predators should certainly be red flagged for any child oriented activities, imo/

Yeah well they're a sex offender then. If they're streaking that means they're exposing themself in public to people of all ages including children. That's a really stupid ridiculous thing to do.

I definitely think there should be sub categories depending on what your offense was. I don't think it's fair to ban them ALL from decorating and handing out candy. My friend was put on the list because his little sister busted in on him in the bathroom as he was getting out of the shower. So now he's not allowed to hand out candy? Come on now. I definitely think if we had categories, then those in the violent and/or child predator categories could be banned from it without affecting those who don't prey on children.

they need categories

not all sex offenses are on the same level.

I think it would be pretty simple to assign a category and define what restrictions apply to which offense category.

I'm under the impression that if you're caught youre just arrested but if a citizen calls the cops on you you're a sex offender.
