well...

Guess I'm done sleeping through the night. Zeke had his 2 week appt today and he's not back up to his birth weight yet. So now instead of letting him sleep like we have been (like why wake up a sleeping baby...I think that's dumb) we have to wake him up every 3 hours.
Bleh. I was so spoiled with having a newborn and sleeping.

I had the same thing. They put him on high calorie formula which helped a lot. He's now 10 weeks and sleeps for 5 to 6 hrs at a time during the night

hmm. that's interesting. I wonder why he's not up to his birth weight. maybe he's just a little slow.

His doctor is against supplementting unless necessary, which I'm happy about because I don't want to so that either, so I'm hoping this works.
I don't know why he isn't back up to it yet, and I know he's getting enough because he's never fussy after he eats, and he's getting more than enough wet diapers. To my husband and I he looks bigger so we were shocked he hasn't gained the weight back. His doctor thinks he kept losing longer than usual

Did you have a rough start? I'm glad you found a good pedi that doesn't believe in supplementing. I had to fight tooth and nail when my son was a newborn. The nurses weren't very informed.

Rough start with what, breastfeeding? Not really. He only wanted to nurse with the nipple shield at first, but now he's a champ on latching without it. I'm glad I was able to find one who doesn't like supplementing also, when I heard he wasn't back at his birth weight that's where my head jumped too, but he was like oh that's completely unnecessary just wake him up to eat. He also wants me to pump more to help my supply and to and to get him an extra 4-6 oz a day.

Oh I didn't realize that you were breastfeeding. Ds was being woke up to eat every 3 hrs & still wasn't gaining weight, that's when they changed his formula. He was only 5.14 @ birth & had a cleft lip which made feeding a bit harder
