Anyone know what strep looks like?

My throat is incredibly sore. I have no fever. Does anyone know about how much it'd cost to go to n urgent care and get antibiotics if it is strep without insurance?

I don't know about cost because I go to the campus infirmary at my university, but I went in about a month or two ago with a horribly sore throat, no fever, no strep, and they just told me to gargle warm salt water, etc. They wouldn't give antibiotics without a fever.

You can Google images of strep throat. As for how much it would cost, I really have no idea.

If you have strep and can't afford the trip, you can try some chamomile tea, gargling with salt water (it fights the bacteria) and staying away from acidy foods, or anything else you notice that irritates it.

Shine a flashlight in your throat. If you have white spots on your tonsils you most likely have Strep. I have had strep throat 5-6 times so I am pretty knowledgeable about recognizing it. Sadly.

There is normally a fever but in early stages you won't have one most likely. A couple of times I didn't have a fever and those cases of mine were actually the worst.

mmm, not too sure but if you are still low income and have no insurance they should have a program there at the hospital--a charity program, that will cover the charges or at least most of them. I would call and check it out or go to a health department--they're always cheap!! Strep throat usually if you look where your uvula hangy thing is your tonsils on the side of it will be red tender and swollen and may have white spots on them...

our urgent care is 95, then they do the strep test. thats 15 more.

strep looks like pus dots in the back of your mouth

usually really red with white puss pockets/bumps, usually comes with a high fever, and fever symptoms, chills and stuff.. Fun times, I used to get it like once a year

You can put one or two drops of tea tree oil in a glass of warm water and gargle.
Don't swallow it though. It will make you sick.

My doctor who took my tonsils out was a smurfing moron then. He said I'd never get strep again.

you might not get tonsillitis (sp) I don't see how you would never get strep again though....

I agree with the gargling warm salt water, no matter how gross it is lol....lots of cough drops, and sore throat spray to ease/numb the soreness for a little bit.... brush your teeth often and gargle with listerine too! and try to rest your voice and not talk very much.... drink tea...but be careful of some tea's...some tea's have certain herbs in them that may be harmful to bambino   good luck! i know getting sick during pregnancy suck! i'm dealing with diarrhea!! I know... TMI   LOL

Yeah. I called the urgent care and they said it'd only be about 100 dollars thank god. So I guess me and Tyler will be going there later today.
