Quoting ♥ darah ♥:" OMG, is that the nurse who was talking smurf about tandem nursing and saying there wouldn't be enough ... [snip!] ... think a degree is needed, it's the experience that counts IMO. I got WAY better advice from people who had breastfed before."Every baby I have had the hospital LC has given me info that could have screwed up my breastfeeding. With M, they just watched me struggle and gave me no advice. (later when i learned more i found many things i could have tried) the LC told me I should supplement. It was a nicu nurse that took pity on me and give me a shield that saved my breastfeeding .
Quoting ♥ darah ♥:" <blockquote><b>Quoting TantricLemons:</b>" Every baby I have had the hospital LC has ... [snip!] ... there. When i was freaking about my supply she suggested a beer. And it WORKED.. never would have gotten that at the hospital."I love when women who's milk has already come in and have a good supply are told to stop the baby from one boob, to give the other mid-feeding. That is so archaic, the baby gets double the foremilk and none of the hold milk.

Quoting ♥Jada:" Mine had a larger gush and a very small leak until delivery two weeks later. Make sure you get ultrasounds ... [snip!] ... visits because they couldn't figure out y my levels were low. Baby was ok, was just flushed with antibiotics for a while."
Quoting Blythe.:" Do you do this on your bed? "
Quoting whack a mole crazy:" ookay, if you dont want people to give there advice because you think you know it all dont be on smurfing babygaga. simple as that."
Quoting TantricLemons:" Every baby I have had the hospital LC has given me info that could have screwed up my breastfeeding. ... [snip!] ... So many other things. She was actually the only person in that hospital that questioned how i care for my child grrr"
Quoting glowinthedark:" That's so weird they gave you smurf for letting her nurse on demand, the nurses with both my kids stressed nursing on demand every freaking time they came in my room.
Quoting TantricLemons:" I was like O.o its a good thing that I already know about breastfeeding. But can you imagine the poor ... [snip!] ... it can be a really crappy program. IBLCE certifies nurses to, and the ones that are IBLCE certified have WAY more knowledge."
Quoting TantricLemons:" there is no standard"

LOL man I'm more worried now than I was before....wanting to have an all natural experience this go around..in a hospital, and now thinking the LC's might not give the best advice. I failed with my first two, something wasn't being done right because they never got latched right, I couldn't pump more than an ounce AND got engorged. I probably need a nipple shield for my right breast...it's rather large and tries to invert or go flat. I tried latch assist and no success. I WILL have my smurf together this time though, lol.
