I didn't turn phones off or on silent, but I didn't even think twice about my phone. I wasn't big on social networks....I did have BG but I never got on it with the phone I had. I just waited to call and text certain ppl and most where already at the hospital to see me. Next time...I will use my facebook and BG to update and post. ( since I have a lap-top )

I had a home birth and didn't update FB or anyone else for that matter while I was in labor. A lot of our co-workers knew since my hubby and I work for the same place and he didn't show up that day. I honestly didn't get on my phone for like 24 hours and in that time only his parents, my mom, and his sister came by. His mom brought food so that was nice for us to not have to cook. Besides that, everyone kept their distance til we said we were ready, which would have probably been way different if we were in the hospital. What happens in UC if you tear, who stitches you up?

Oh okay...I wonder if you could tell just by looking down there if you tore? I'm all for UC but isn't there a doula or midwife you could hire just for the birth? Are you being seen at all through pregnancy?

Yeah you can see if you are torn and things. I am being seen by a midwife, and we checked into getting someone but we live in the country and can't find someone willing to drive. I have quick deliveries so they wouldn't make it anyways. Plus I am going to become a midwife. Just need to do some more classes and attend a bunch of births!

I think its totally fine to keep the phones off. With all three of my kids we didn't call to let anyone know they were born for 4-5 hours after there birth and only two people were allowed to see the baby at a time and they had wash there hands first. Also they could only drop by between 12-2 each day . They knew they were not getting into our house any other way. Do what you feel like doing this is your baby and they can either deal or not see the baby.

We already told family that we won't be accepting visitors (because they have to stay with us) till after Christmas I want to get through the holidays like normal. Since we are doing a home birth we can hide it. The only people that will notice is my husband crew, and only one of them is on my facebook. So I am sure it won't leak.
