Lactose Intolerant Moms?

posted 3rd Oct
I recently found out I am probably lactose intolerant. I went to my dr and told him my symptoms, decided against the test since its not that accurate, and decided I was lactose intolerant. I get sick after I eat dairy, so it's probably right. Anyways, I am having a really hard time - I feel like I can't eat anything!! I know stress can be a factor in your body's "behavior" and I have been stressed, but this is just ridiculous. I feel like I am always getting sick no matter what I eat. Dr. said lactaid OTC might help, so I have tried some of those. I always feel so bloated/gassy. Any ideas or suggestions from lactose intolerant mom's out there? How do you avoid the dairy and do you try anything special to avoid feeling this way? I am so new to this, that I forget I need to watch what I eat; especially when we go out to eat. Have you found any good resources? TIA!

Get some lactaid pills. You'll learn you can't live without them(that is if you don't feel like changing your diet....

Switch to goat milk products. It is much easier to digest, had both lactose and lactase which is what breaks down the lactose, and to me, tastes much better.

I drink lactose free milk.
I prefer store brand, rather than name brand.
Winn Dixie is the best.
Taste just like milk.

I have a weakness for dairy, though.
I still eat cheese and icecream, milk is the only thing I'm picky about.
I put up with the side effects lol

Same with eggs, I'm allergic to them.
My throat closes up and I get nauseous, but I still eat them >.<

LOL - yeah I love dairy too. Especially cheese and sour cream. This really stinks. I will try the pills more often - anyone have a specific brand that works really well? I bought the Walgreens brand. Not sure if they are working... I seem to get sick off everything right now (stress induced). Does anyone drink the Almond milk or coconut milk? Not sure how I like them with my cereal yet. I love love love coffee (Starbucks) and they only offer soy, so I have been doing soy there, however it's expensive.
