I did the same thing.. I feel like DS1 was a trial run lol, I learned the do's and dont's with him, he's a happy healthy 4 year old and was on formula. But this time around with DS2 were EBF'ing and its SOO much easier!

Well its not easy at first but just cause there's a little pain art first doesn't mean you shouldn't try to give your baby the best. No matter what hun after labor you'll be in pain for 6 weeks or longer

This is true. If you don't breastfeeding, then you have to wait for your milk to dry up. I've talked to some woman who breastfed one child but not another, and they said that waiting for your milk to dry up is more painful than the first week of breastfeeding.

I personally think it would be more awkward to breastfeed say if your out in public and you need to feed your baby? i just wouldn't be able to, and i don't know i guess because pretty much everyone in my family has been bottle feed i don't see why it is so important i mean everyone i know that has been bottle feed including the baby's in my family are all healthy?

You can not go with what others say just try it you may do well with it. Think of your baby and if you can breast feed you should be happy. Think of the money you will save but don't listen to other people just try it for yourself.

It's not awkward at all

Buy a nursing cover or something

Just cause your parents and grandparents did something one way doesn't mean it is the right o healthiest way to feed your bub. I bet they will tell you to give him/her rice cereal or solids before 6 months, but you shouldn't do that either

When it comes to bfing in public, it isn't awkward. No one even notices, in my experience.

Would you feed your child fruit/veggies or junk food and vitamins?

also, if you don't want to nurse in public, you can pump and give a bottle, or excuse yourself for privacy

Of course there are challenges but everyone learns, its your right to nurse in public, cover or not. Breasts are only made for one reason, they have just been made into sexual objects. Go with what you want, either way your baby will grow but I've seen a difference, my children that were bf did not go to the emergency room or sick visits as much as my first did. Not to mention how expensive formula is.

Breastmilk is the biologically normal way to feed your child.

With proper latch & positioning, breastfeeding does not hurt. Some women experience discomfort at first, but many do not.

You said you were researching & heard many negative things, I wonder where you are getting your info? Websites that are promoted by formula companies often give misinformation. Their ultimate goal is to get you to buy their product.
www.kellymom.com is an excellent resource

There are many risks with formula. Your child has a greater risk of obesity, diabeties, SIDS, childhood cancer, the list goes on. Some women do choose to formula feed, & baby may turn out 'jyst fine' but it is showing in our society where obesity, cancer, diabeties are EPIDEMICS. There is no way of knowing exactly how it will affect your child, because there are risks that last a lifetime.

what concerns do you have with breastfeeding? Maybe working through those concerns will help you make a more informed decision.

Quoting Kelly&Coralie:" What does being young have to do with breastfeeding? Formula is crap compared to breastmilk Breast ... [snip!] ... to breastmilk Breast is free, easy, and the best nutrition you can give your child IMO, if you can breastfeed, you should"

And seriously.. "I'm a young mum" so what? I had my first at 16. I couldn't BF him due to him being preemie, so I pumped instead. Why can't you do that?

Are you too young to handle a breast pump? You weren't too young to handle a dick, so a breast pump should be easy.

breast is best. they get immunities from you that they normally wouldnt get from formula, but if you choose to formula feed, thats all up to you. But if you want to breastfeed but are uncomfortable, you can always pump and give it to your LO in a bottle. At first, I was a little hesitant on breastfeeding because breasts have become too sexualized, but after breastfeeding DD, I realized it was one of the most natural things I could do and I felt really proud of myself for breastfeeding DD as long as I did, even though I wanted to go for the full year or more.

I seriously have so much respect for you, for having a baby that early and still BFing.
